Starla Trusley, SHRM-SCP

President/ CEO

Starla has over 16 years of experience in the distilled spirits industry.  Starla worked for the Cruzan Rum Distillery (owned by Suntory Global Spirits) in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands from 2006 until 2022.  During her tenure at Cruzan Rum Starla provided leadership to a wide range of departments including Quality, Continuous Improvement, Safety, Environmental, Security, Human Resources, and the Visitors’ Experience. 

Highlights of her accomplishments at Cruzan include efficiency improvement projects in distillation and fermentation, building a barrel management program, and implementation of a robust Hurricane Response plan following the devastation of Hurricane Maria.  In 2017 she became a Senior Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resource Management, and her certification remains current.  She earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

James F. Trusley, IV, CSP

President – Safety Services/ Veteran

James is a US Army Veteran with over 20 years’ experience in the distilled spirits industry.  His primary focuses have been occupational safety, regulatory compliance, safety culture development, mentoring emerging safety professionals, ISO management systems (ISO 45001, 14001, 9001, and 22000), Risk management, security, emergency preparedness, crisis management and continuous improvement.

James co-led the founding of Beam Veterans Employee Impact Group assisting veterans in finding work in the spirits industry, providing mentorship and Veteran Community engagement. James has worked as an Eastern Kentucky part-time facilitator/instructor since 2006, in the Fire Science Engineering Undergraduate program and the SSEM Master’s Program.
